Master Planner / Head of Supply Chain

As part of a multi-million capital project to implement Oracle/ERP into the UK we now have an opportunity for a Supply Chain / Master Planner to join the team.  Reporting to the Group Operations Director and based in Crewe this senior level appointment will provide a critical interface between Commercial, Production, Procurement & Finance and be responsible for leading and directing all Planning & Inventory activity in the UK. 

With the advent of ERP this role is key to ensuring that all inputs of sales forecasting, raw material purchases and production capacity issues are effectively translated into robust manufacturing plans; co-ordinating and integrating the activities of Sales Order Processing, Planning, Raw Material Call-Off, On-Site Storage & Warehousing, Finished Product Distribution and external Storage.

Specific accountabilities will include:

- Development of annual budgets and delivery of all planning activity in line with budget.  Timely and accurate reporting of all Key Performance Indicators.
- Lead and facilitate “Sales & Operations” meetings.  Liaise with all parties to negotiate agreed supply plans and communicate agreed plans both in the short term & long term.

- Challenge orders/forecasts and manage the sales order / forecast data entry process within Oracle.
- Balance Supply/Demand objectives in accordance with business needs and priorities and generate net volume requirements in relation to what, when & how much to produce.

- Ensure a robust and achievable plan is created daily/weekly/monthly to meet customer expectations.
- Ensure the effective flow of materials into and product out of the business to meet and exceed customer expectations
- Generate and agree procurement plans for the business and ensure timely communication of agreed plans on Oracle.  Be the primary point of contact with key suppliers; e.g. DFI Ireland.  
- Ensure effective in house and third party stock management through the development, implementation and maintenance of inventory policies.  Ensure achievement of inventory targets through accurate Stock taking/Cycle Counting and Finished Goods Inventory accuracy.
- Ensure Warehouse spend is optimized at all times thereby creating a value add return for the business and ensure the effective management of finished goods.
- Manage a team of people to optimize team work and delivery of KPIS.  Ensure that the required level and type of training is provided to colleagues.  Implement and review personal objectives.

Candidates for this position should possess:
Educated to degree level you will already possess at least 5 years plus relevant experience in FMCG.  Ideally with experience of Oracle ERP or a similar system, you will demonstrate a deep understanding of the underlying planning, supply chain and manufacturing principles and processes across the full remit of this role, including stock control JIT systems, can ban, stock reduction and increased stock turns.

A strong leader you will demonstrate confidence and a ‘can-do’ attitude and have a proven track record of results delivery.  Your excellent communication and command skills will ensure you develop and maintain positive working relationships at all levels and influence decisions on issues that impact planning activity across the business. 

With exceptional organisational skills you will consistently prioritise both the day to day and longer term strategic planning decisions, often against challenging deadlines.  Analytical by nature you will quickly identify critical issues that impact business performance and ensure that effective plans are in plans to minimise.
