DAIRYGOLD FOOD INGREDIENTS MAKES INNOVATIVE APPOINTMENT (30 March 2010)
Dairygold Food Ingredients, the progressive Irish-based supplier of cheese and dairy-based ingredients, has reinforced its commitment to innovation and quality control with the appointment of Maria Mateo as Cheese Technologist at the company’s Innovation Centre in Ireland.
Mateo gained extensive experience in the dairy industry in Murcia, Spain, on completion of her university education, and recently completed her PhD at Moorepark Food Research Centre, Teacagasc, in “The development of new monitoring systems for syneresis during cheese manufacture.” Her role will include the creation of products specifically aimed at the European marketplace.
“Dairygold Food Ingredients has a well established reputation for excellence in product development and consistent quality supply,” explains Sinead Fitzsimons, Dairygold’s chief cheese technologist at the Innovation Centre. “Maria’s experience will allow us to maintain this reputation, and build on it as we develop further new products for our expanding customer base across Europe.”
As well as its UK business, Dairygold Food Ingredients now has clients across Europe, with offices in Spain, France and Germany, and the company recognises the need to tailor new products to meet particular cultural palate requirements.
“Dairygold Food Ingredients has a current product portfolio which our customers appreciate for its consistency and excellence. Maria will be a valuable asset to the Innovation team, as we look to strengthen and expand the portfolio further and drive the business forwards, by creating exciting, food ingredient solutions for cater for specific European taste and product delivery requirements.”
Dairygold Food Ingredients’ commitment to new product development and brand extension was recognised last year when the company was a one of the winners at the prestigious Dairy Innovations Food Ingredients Europe (FIE) awards 2009 for one of its newest products, zero salt soft cheese. Nominated against products from more than 400 exhibitors from across Europe, zero salt soft cheese was selected by a panel of experts from across the continent as representing one of the most innovative ingredients used by the food industry for 2009, and Dairygold is currently discussion its uses with key customers across Europe.
